UNICEF AND PARTNERSHIP IN MONGOLIA

UNICEF has been working in Mongolia for over 50 years. During this time, Mongolia and its people have experienced many challenges and changes, including the transition from a centrally planned economy to a democratic and market economy, from a low-income to a lower-middle-income country, from a recipient of development assistance to a multilateral diplomatic and human rights-respecting country. In line with Mongolia’s growing capacity, development and economic growth, UNICEF has gradually shifted its country’s focus to supporting the Government in providing equal opportunities for all children. In practice, this transition has been more focused on connecting the policy environment to reach every child, especially the most vulnerable, and ensuring equity and delivering services at the local level to all children. This shift has highlighted the need to gradually shift from providing direct services to providing technical support to improving policies, laws, standards and norms related to improving outcomes for children at the local level. Although the scope of UNICEF’s programs has changed over the past year, the organization’s core mission of “UNICEF to reach every child in Mongolia equally” has not changed. The Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism and Youth has signed a “Memorandum of Understanding” to be implemented in 2023 within the framework of the UNICEF Country Support Program, and has jointly implemented a multi-faceted impactful activity to ensure children’s rights in cultural activities, support development protection, and prevent all forms of violence against children. World Children’s Day falls on November 20, and the Natural History Museum has successfully implemented participatory education programs in the “Creative Children - Cultural Space 2023” and “Family - Primary Cultural Environment 2024” events. Every child was included with equal access. We would like to congratulate the UN Resident Coordinator, Mr. Evariste Kouassi-Comlan, and his team on their historic 80th anniversary. #UN80 #UNDay2025 #UNMongolia #UNPartnership #Family_Social_Primary_Environment
