WORKING WITH THE INTERNATIONAL CONSULTING COMPANY “LORD CULTURAL RESOURCES” AND RECEIVING THE PERFORMANCE REPORT

The new development of the Natural History Museum, the largest construction project in the history of the Mongolian museum sector, is under construction at the “Mouth of the Sky” in the Bogdkhan Mountain Reserve, with an area of ​​41,757.6 m². The museum aims to create a participatory cultural and scientific environment and become a national center for supporting the education of children and youth.

In order to bring the museum's development policy and planning into line with international standards, the decision was made to obtain consulting services from a world-renowned organization and, based on a study, the US-based company "Lord Cultural Resources", which has extensive experience in the planning, strategy, and exhibition design of cultural institutions, was selected and a cooperation agreement was signed on May 28, 2025. Within the framework of the collaboration, the strategic direction, priority goals, and mission of the National Museum of Natural Sciences were broadly defined, and based on this, a performance report was developed with recommendations that aligned the museum's concept and collection policy with the international treaties and conventions to which Mongolia has joined, the standards and recommendations of the International Council of Museums (ICOM), and the legal system for the protection of Mongolia's cultural heritage, and was officially submitted to the relevant organizations.

The performance report was submitted to the Ministry of Culture, Sports, Tourism, The Ministry of Youth, the Natural History Museum, and the Pre-Construction Administration were presented and handed over to the Ministry of Youth, the Natural History Museum, and the Administration for Pre-Construction by Robert LaMarr, Vice President of Lord Cultural Resources, Content Developer Yvonne Tang, and Mongolian Consultant B. Nomintuya. The consulting services were implemented within the framework of the following four main work packages. These include:

  • Museum concept recommendations and organizational strategy review;
  • Spatial assessment and recommendations for museum buildings;
  • Research and development to determine the content of museum exhibitions;
  • Museum exhibition design plans and investment estimates.

These recommendations and research results will be of great importance for the implementation of the National Museum of Natural Sciences' future development policy, exhibition solutions, and operational planning in accordance with international standards.
